Running: Mizuno Wave Run 2014 (Putrajaya)

Photo courtesy of Running Magazine Malaysia
This was my second time participating the Mizuno Wave Run. My running commitment started at the same race on 2012 which as held at UPM, Serdang.  I was running my first 10K with my younger brother Shafwan and the Teh Tarik Runners.

My first 10K at Mizuno Wave Run 2012
Registered for Mizuno Wave Run 2014 last minute before closing date due to its race venue in Putrajaya. No running buddy this round due to last-minute FFK. My first KM with new pair of running shoes - Nike LunarGlide6.

Running Day
Reached the event venue 40 minutes before flag off time. No problem for parking as tons of free parking space around the area.

The 16km category was just about to be flagged after I deposited my baggage at the secretariat tent. A number was written down on my BIB for collection afterwards.

The 10km category was flagged at 7.00 am. I was a bit surprised with the turned out amount of participants for this category. There was a huge space between runners at the starting area. Must be due to other races that were happening on the same day. Started my run with a basic pace of 5'/KM just to get ahead of the pack.

The first water station was available at KM3 with mineral water and isotonic drink for runners. Water preparation was good with few volunteers managing. Started to slow down my pace after the 5KM checkpoint due bit of elevation. Traffic was well managed by PDRM marshals and volunteers. Saw tons of volunteers photographers reaching the finishing line too.

Thanks NII: Nothing Is Impossible

I completed the 10K run at 1 hour 7 minutes (Official) net time. Collected the finisher medal, banana, bottle of water and a Gardenia coupon for redemption at the exhibition area later.

Exhibition Area
The exhibition area was great with numerous title sponsor tents along the area. Really had to queue at the Milo tent for a free cold Milo. There were Power Bar, Gardenia, Salonpas and others with special promotions available. Bumped with some familiar faces in the area which leads to a photo op.

Comments
Medal design was nice. Love the lanyard colour and design too. Running tee colour selection was OK - green for male, purple for female. Great exhibition area with good title sponsors but I didn't see any nasi lemak for breakfast like the past 2012 edition. A huge thanks to all photographer covering the race visual moments and sharing it on Facebook. Keep up the good work!

Summary: A very well managed race event by organisor and partners. However, still have room for improvement like race venue and route selection since this is an annual event for Mizuno.

Event Recommendation: ★★★★☆
