Introduction

Corregidor Marathon will take place on the island of Corregidor on December 7, 2013. Only 88 slots will be open for participation, with a set qualifying time. Aside from the full marathon distance, there are two sub-events to take place on the same date - the 5K Blitz and 3K Thrill. Each of these distances shall have 150 slots.

Corregidor Marathon will see its inaugural edition on December 7, 2013 on the island of Corregidor. With Corregidor International Half-Marathon (CIHM) as its forerunner, which is now on its fourth year, Corregidor Marathon will usher in a new level of challenge in the running scene. As the half-marathon course of Corregidor could be top-viewed as forming an “8” loop, running the full marathon distance entails a double “8”.

About Corregidor Island

Corregidor Island, locally called Isla ng Corregidor, is a lofty island located at the entrance of Manila Bay in southwestern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines. Due to this location, Corregidor was fortified with several coastal artillery and ammunition magazines to defend the entrance of Manila Bay and the City of Manila from attacks by enemy warships in the event of war.

Guess I will be experiencing Philippines history during the run. Too bad, I can only take pictures with my iPhone5. Can't be bringing my DSLR kit in a running event.

Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

I emailed some enquiries for clarifications. Great job to the organisor for a speedy response to my enquiries via email earlier.

• Registration is OPEN to ALL including overseas runners.

• Credit card payment facility is still being negotiated with the gateway vendor at the moment.

• For race pack collection, there will be a special collection time for oversea participants flying in close to the race day.

This event will be my 1st run in the Philippines. I will be registering for the 5K Blitz with a cost of RM186.02. Note that this price will include: roundtrip ferry transfers, post-race lunch buffet, race shirt, race sling bag, timing chip and finisher’s medal and hopefully a priceless experience. But do check out the entitlement for FULL Marathon (42KM) runners. I will do review on the race pack once received.
