Running: MSMW Twitterthon 2015 (Putrajaya) #MSMW2015 #MSMWTwitterthon #PetronasPRIMAX

Decided to take part for a 5KM Fun Run at MSMW Twitterthon 2015 held at Putrajaya on 25 April 2015. Race day was on Saturday morning, one day before my next 12KM trail race at Hulu Langat.

Thanks to Runwitme Instagram, I managed to do last minute registration during its race pack collection week at Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Got complaints from other participants due to the location and collection time which were weekdays instead of weekend. The 5KM Fun Run cost me RM45 which includes a New Balance running tee and BIB. Huge name of sponsors such as Petronas and Malaysia Airlines for this event.

Didn't have much expectation on this race though, since I am not familiar with the event organisor. To be honest, I signed up to test run my new running kicks bought earlier.

Running Day

Reached the event venue 1 hour prior to flag-off time at 7am. Designated parking for participants was very very close to the event area with RELA officials on duty for security. There was a baggage deposit counter and registration counter for last-minute walk-in's too.

The 5KM Fun Run was flagged at 7.15am instead of 7.00am, which was no problem for me. The event scale was around 200 - 300 paxs. With the tagline "Run & Tweet", runners were encouraged to take their photos at check points by sponsors and partners along the 5KM race route. Sponsors and partners had their photowalls for runners to pose, take photo and tweet or upload into their social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

It's unfortunate that I didn't spent much time at these checkpoints. Some of the checkpoints were exciting with inflatable slides, trampoline stations and nicely design backdrop art. Took the opportunity to capture some photos of volunteers and the race route.

Completed the fun run at 25 minutes according to my Nike+ Running. Was given a goodie bag at the finishing line by the friendly volunteers with finisher medal and bottle of water inside.

Went for a cup of cold Milo from the Milo truck right after finishing the race. It was nice to have the usual Milo truck supply after a morning run.

Continue with a quick tour around the event area for some photos. Very basic booth tents by sponsors and partners but with exciting freebies given away. The basic mechanics was to 'Like' their social media accounts and adding their hashtags when uploading to social media accounts.

There were Maybank, Malaysia Airlines, MyTaxi, 100Plus, Petronas and others. Managed to get a nice notebook from MyTaxi booth. A photowall was seen at the centre of the event area too.

Comments

Nice finisher medal design and running tee by New Balance. A laid-back fun run event with tons of friendly volunteers. Excellent water station supplies. Tons of goodies up for grabs by sponsors and partners. 

However, there are still room for improvements from event promotion, race pack collection to photographers along the race route.

Summary: Kudus to MSMW for organising such fun run event. Definitely a well organised, worth money race event.
