Running: 3R International Marathon & Carnival 2015 (Putrajaya)

Signed up for the 10K category at the 3R International Marathon & Carnival 2015 after long consideration on the event experience and expectation.

This event was organised by SWCorp and Servmark. I am familiar with SWCorp, the same agency that held Larian Kitar Semula at Padang Merbok last 2013, in conjunction with the yearly Recycling Day. No detailed information on Sixty3Biz nor Servmark though. Furthermore, the registration fee was at RM70 for 10K distance.

The event date (as my calendar still empty) and the finisher medal were the actual pull-factor for me.

Race Pack Entry Collection
No problem during race pack collection at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang as the registration was managed by Marathonshop earlier. Received a woven bag with a New Balance running vest, BIB and a discount voucher.

Running Day
Reached the event area few minutes before the 10K flag off at 6.30am. Parking was business as usual since the race venue was the regular site for a running event.

Weather was sunny and warm. water stations and traffic marshals were available along the race route.

Towards Finishing Line
Finisher medal was given at the finishing line, including a bottle of water and a banana. Regrouped with running friends, Kakai to wait for other running friends such as Tinie, Izwan, Neves, Liana, Norazlina, Elise and Azmi GME who were running in the HM and FM categories.

Nothing much to see around the event area. Did a quick stroll to meet friends and new-found-friends. There was a concert by local buskers musician and artists at the main stage before the prize giving ceremony.

Excellent finisher medal design and quality. The pewter material adds more value to the medal. The running vest by New Balance was all right.

Finisher Medals
A very pricey registration fee for a not-well-known race event. Registration fee costs at RM60 (5KM) to RM90 (42KM). Poor race kit and goodie entitlements for participants. One discount voucher during race pack collection and a banana after the race. No snack pack, breakfast nor 100 Plus bottle water to-go after completing the race.


Exhibition area was not exciting. Only a few sponsors and partners tents in the area. Met some friends from SWM Environment and KPKT. Photo wall backdrop was available but was not strategically placed - it was behind of the VIP tent not so visible to participants. Sufficient mobile toilets around the event area. 

Very poorly managed post-race event. Heard complaints from the top 15 runners that the waiting time for prize collection was long. Runners had to wait near until the main prize giving ceremony to claim their cash prizes via manual form at the counter. 

Medical team was placed far at the finishing line, hence emergency response was slow at the finishing line. One of the runner collapsed after crossing the finishing line. Hope for his speedy recovery.

I noticed there was no standardisation on the event name nor tagline. Some used "International", some didn't. I'm guessing that the race event didn't qualify for international level that's why it was removed.

Another note, I still think the Larian Kitar Semula mechanics have more value than this round as it emphasise recycling item during registration since it themed as 3R.

Tons of freelance photographers in the area at the HM / FM arch. There were Run & Explore, RFF, Essy Choo, ET Tay, Victor and others. Well done to all!

Summary: Pricey less value race event by SWCorp, organisor, sponsors and partners. Good try though~
