Tried a new running route at Setia City Mall located near to Shah Alam on 23 November 2014 at the New Balance Half Marathon 2014 #NBMYHalfMarathon2014
What makes me keen to participate in this race was the race area and the HM Finisher race tee design.
The registration had open since October 2014 with RM70 fee for the HM category. Online registration was via the Marathon Shop portal.
Race DayTook me about 20 - 30 minutes drive from my home to the race area. Designated parking area was OK but at a first-come-first-serve basis. There was a baggage deposit tent but I didn't deposit any baggage this time. Was looking for a pre-run water station but couldn't find one. Had to wait until the first water station at about KM3 to drink some water. There was a designated tent for Muslim subuh prayers too.

The 21K HM category was flagged at 6.15am. A little bit of traffic at the beginning due to road space and some slow-runners but managed to get my usual pace few minutes after. Water station supplies was sufficient. There was one fruit station at KM12 with banana supplies.

Excellent traffic control by PDRM and marshals along the route. One thing that disappointed me was no distance markers along the race route. I could only see a few direction signages, but not the KM. Had to rely on my Nike+ Running app for remaining distance to go.

Successfully crossed the finishing line at 2 hour 29 minutes. Finisher medal was given at the finishing line tent. Collected my HM finisher tee at the finisher tee tent at the event area.

Saw a lot of running friends at the event area. Met Yen Yen and Azrul whom completed the 10K category earlier. Had a quick chat with some LYN Runners members and new found friends there too.

There were 2 photo walls at the centre of the area. Friendly runners were helping each other to take their photographs. Not really sure if the official photographer was purposely assigned to take pictures there but it is good to have an official photographer at the photo wall. Thanks!
Did a quick stroll at the exhibition tents. The instant photo booth was cool. Love the props.

Excellent race event by organizer. However, there are still room for improvement at runners welfare and post-race management.
Love the medal design. Heavy with a creative centre shoe that could spin. The running vest design was basic. No complaints on the HM finisher tee. Love the cutting and design.
Putting distance markers along the race route would definitely help runners motivation. Running route for long distance could be more interesting. Not really a fan of running in loops.
It's unfortunate that the official timing was delayed for more than 1 week.
