Did a 12KM distance warm-up run at the NM Galaxy Road Run 2014, 1st Series on 16 February 2014 at Tasik Titiwangsa. This running event was organised by a new event company called NM Galaxy. The concept of its medal collection entitlement and sponsors interest me to register earlier.

Running Day
Went to Tasik Titiwangsa 20 minutes before the 12KM flag off time. Think car park was fine since location is at a public recreation area. Left my bag at the baggage deposit booth. Exhibition area map was not communicated before the race, so I have no idea which booth to go to.

Runners were already gathered at the start area at that time. 12KM distance male runners were flagged at 6.45 am. The running route was along Jalan Tun Razak. So it was a straight run on road with 2 U-turn.

Water station was available with supplies of Gatorade energy drink. However, very less distance marker along the route. Safety measures were good with safety cones to separate runners with vehicle lanes.

Finished the 12KM run at 1:25 hrs. Finisher medal was given after crossing the finish line. Quite a long queue for breakfast redemption. Was expecting something like 'breakfast run' but guess my expectation was a bit high.

My Comments

Running tee design could be better. Colour choice could be better too. Quality was fine since the official apparel was New Balance. Think its better to just do a one time flag off for male and female participants according to categories. Running nowadays involved running buddies i.e. mix group of male and female. Women nowadays are as fast as male runner too. Distance and route markers could be placed more along the way. Breakfast could be better too. Wish that there were more official photographer during the event. But tons of freelance photographers though.

Summary: Thumbs up to organisor and partners for a good job even as first time organisor. Registering for the 2nd series is tempting as runners may want to complete the medal collection. The 2nd series will be held at Padang Merbuk on 18 May 2014. I am not a fan of the Padang Merbok route due to its elevation climb. Hope to see the confirmed running route soon. Registration may based on organisor's future improvement for the remaining series.
